Statement of Faith & Religious Purpose

  • The Leaders of Joshua 1:9 are followers of Jesus Christ. 

  • The Leaders believe that Jesus Christ requires that all His followers strive to live their lives in a manner that is consistent with the precepts and doctrines of their faith which are grounded solely in the Bible. 

  • The Leaders therefore seek to operate SHC & Compass in accordance with the principles of their faith and strive to make all business decisions, including hiring and contracting decisions regarding business activity according to Biblical principles. 

  • The Leaders of Joshua 1:9 believe that the Bible provides clear guidance on contemporary controversies relating to marriage, gender, sexuality, and the sanctity of human life, as follows: 

Statement of Faith

This statement of faith describes our “Mere Christian” belief.  It is intended to serve as a common core of affirmations we operate under as programs of Joshua 1:9.

​

  • We believe that there is one God existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.
     

  • We believe that man was made in God’s image, both male and female, and that all creation was good.
     

  • We believe that man fell in sin, may be rescued by Christ’s atonement, and restored with all things for the new creation that the Lord Jesus Christ will gloriously accomplish.
     

  • We believe the Bible to be the word of God, the ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice.
     

  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
     

  • We believe that salvation is a gift of God, by grace through faith.
     

  • We believe that faith without works is dead.
     

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit.
     

  • We believe in the resurrection.
     

  • We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
