What is Archery Tag®?Archery Tag® is the brand equipment for use in the sport of extreme archery.

What is the game?Archery Tag® is now often used informally as a genericized trademark that has become synonymous for bow and arrow combat-type games in the USA and around the world as well as for the equipment used for the game. Archery Tag® is our brand of equipment used to play extreme archery. The game of extreme (combat) archery is a mix of dodgeball, paintball, and archery with players hitting each other with non-lethal arrows to score points or eliminate opposing team members. What is Extreme Archery?Extreme Archery is an action-packed, adrenaline-filled sport enjoyed by millions of people in 65 countries. Teams of generally five players on opposite sides of the field, separated by a 20-foot neutral zone, attempt to hit opposing players with non-lethal arrows. There two common types of gameplay: League Style (points) and Classic (elimination). Check out the rules here.

How close will someone be when they shoot at me?The teams are separated by a 20-foot neutral zone (previously referred to as a “safe zone”), so the nearest anyone will shoot is 20 feet.

Do I need to wear safety gear?Yes, a facemask. We suggest players remove jewelry, piercings, and headwear to avoid potential injury.

Who can play?Anyone who can draw the bow. Extreme Archery is inclusive; anyone can participate, regardless of gender, age, socio-economic background, or athletic ability.

Is it safe?Yes. With a stellar safety record since its inception in 2011, the Archery Tag® brand pioneered the exhilarating sport of extreme archery, while maintaining a focus on innovative product development and preserving the highest levels of safety. The gameplay is intense yet safe for participants.

Does it hurt to be hit with the arrow?Well, it depends on where you are hit; some players may choose to wear a jockstrap. Otherwise, there is virtually no pain, and most say they are more surprised than anything when struck by an Archery Tag® arrow.

I am 12 years old, can I play?"Yes. We offer a 20# Cadet bow and a 28# Pro bow. A 12-year-old can usually draw one of the other. We have had six-year-old kids play with the 20# bow. Your parents will be asked to sign a Waiver.

I am 80 years old, can I play?"Yes! We had an 88-year-old grandmother play who nailed CEO John Jackson in the gut with an arrow. You will be asked to sign a Waiver.

Is it easier to learn?Yes.

What if I never shot a bow and arrow before?Most have never picked up a bow and arrow before playing extreme archery. Learning to shoot is quick, easy, and usually becomes intuitive and improved during gameplay. Learn to shoot here:

How many people are usually on a team?For optimal strategizing and teamwork, we recommend five (5) players per team.

How does a team win?Depends on whether it is League Style (points) or Classic (elimination) gameplay. Check out the game rules here.

How long are games?About 8 to 10 minutes. If there is a large group, it may be limited to less time.

What is the standard field size?Teams compete on a field that measures 70 ft. (21 m.) by 30 ft. (9 m.). It consists of two action zones separated by a 20-foot neutral zone. Three bunkers placed strategically in each action zone and a 5-Spot Knockout Target at the neutral zone attack line finish out the standard field.

What is a non-lethal arrow?The “NON-LETHAL ARROW” is an arrow with a soft, foam tip that was developed by John Jackson and is protected by U.S. PATENTS #8,449,413 and #8,932,159 for use in the sport of extreme archery.

What equipment is used during gameplay?Archery Tag® bow, arrows, facemask, bunkers, and 5-spot knockout target.
