Rental Program Policy Joshua 1:9 – A Nonprofit Organization Purpose This policy outlines the terms and conditions for renting bikes, boats, and associated equipment from our nonprofit rental program. These policies ensure safe use, responsible care, and protection of our organization’s assets so that they remain available for community benefit. 1. Rental Eligibility All renters must provide a valid ID and contact information. Renters must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. 2. Refundable Deposit A refundable deposit is required for each rental item. Deposit amounts are based on the replacement value of the item (typically $200–$1,000 depending on the specific bike, boat, or equipment). Deposits are held on file until the item is returned and inspected. If the item is returned damaged, broken, or with missing components, the deposit may be fully or partially retained to cover repair or replacement costs. 3. Responsibility for Damage, Loss, or Theft By renting from our program, the customer agrees to the following: 3.1 Damage Renters are responsible for all damage occurring during the rental period, regardless of cause (including accidents, improper use, or environmental conditions). If equipment is returned broken or damaged, the renter agrees to: Pay for repairs completed to our organization’s standards, OR replace the item entirely if repair is not feasible. Repair or replacement costs will be calculated based on professional service estimates, parts required, and staff time. 3.2 Loss or Theft If an item is lost or stolen during the rental period, the renter agrees to pay the full replacement value of the item. Replacement value is determined by the fair market cost of the same or comparable model. 4. Equipment Use Requirements Renters must use equipment only for its intended purpose. Renters agree to follow all safety guidelines provided by staff or posted signage. Boats and watercraft rentals may require use of life jackets, which must remain worn at all times. 5. Inspection and Return Process All items are inspected before and after rental. Renters are encouraged to check the condition of items before leaving the premises. Items must be returned by the agreed-upon time to avoid late fees. Equipment must be reasonably clean and free of debris. 6. Liability Release Renters acknowledge that outdoor recreation and use of bikes, boats, and equipment involves inherent risks. Our organization is not responsible for personal injury, accidents, or property damage resulting from equipment use. 7. Agreement to Terms By signing the rental agreement, the customer acknowledges that they have read, understand, and agree to all terms outlined in this policy, including responsibility for damage, loss, theft, and repair or replacement costs.
